hey guys.
i found a white 93 yj with the 2.3 (54,XXX miles) and a 5sp tranny. soft top is good with no visable leaks, int. is ok. the only noticable thing i saw was the body rust under the doors and just a bit on the rear corners and slight frame rot.
he said it needed either new u-joints or cv.
i know its gonna be a little project but i still think its worth the work.
i have no plans for a tire bigger than 32in.
he is asking around $1200 for it as is..
what do yall think?

Sounds like a half decent deal. Highway speeds should be no problem, just get used to downshifting going up hills. I can manage 65 no problem with the 2.5L 4.10 gears and 35's

Check the frame good. At the rear spring hangers and around the steering box. If frame is good, buy it.

For a daily driver or trail rig? You need to make a list of all the issues and what they would cost to repair. Try to include every problem that keeps it from being road safe. You will be surprised what a 1200 jeep will require to make road worthy. Then take and add up those prices. Then you could have waited and saved your money and got a much better condition Jeep and not have all that work into it.Frame rot is nothing to play with. Were there is one spot you can see there is usually 3 more spots on the inside of frame that you don't see. I know this may not be what you want to do but if you live up in the SALT belt look for cars down south or out west. Ebay right now is free to list in 100 mile radius sales so you have to look specifically in the areas you want. I have been seeing 97 TJs go for 3k in good running condition. 4 bangers but thats what you looking at now. Just because it is cheap now does not mean it will be the best deal.

I agree 50%. I bought mine for 1100 bucks from some NY Yankee movin into a smaller NY house from his house in northern PA and didn't have any room. I bought it, new it needed new leaf springs. He told me that the sound system wasn't hooked up, well that's cause there were NO SPEAKERS AND THE RADIO WAS BROKE!!!!! Now I keep running into problems, but it is to be expected from an old Jeep. It's reliable most of the time, and cuts through any obstacle I come to. Speaking of which, the dang thing is completely broken down at the moment. Had an intermittent starting problem, now it wont at all, but I think I fixed what was causing the intermittent, now Idk what's wrong.

You can find the rare good deal. But most time a 1200 buck car is on its way down and will need a influx of cash to get it back going. Only thing it has going for it is the low miles. You need to check that the gauge is working because that seems very low for a 93.........
