Man, you will never catch my jeep in that deep of water unless someone was dying or an accident.
If the motor made it, can you say.
New starter
new alt.
change the trans fluid
change the diff oils
cold water on the exhaust manifold - crack?
It's not worth it.:wavin2:

If the airbox is stock, it draws air from right behind the driverside headlight. As you drive, the headlight causes a small air duct pocket behind it & doesn't draw much water till you start moving real slow or it splashes up.
Nice pics. :thup2:
The engine did hydrolock.
It shut down quick. No bent internals. We pulled the plugs, shot the water out, cleaned and dried the plugs. Checked the oil, no contamination. Fired it up, ran it the rest of the weekend. :D
AlabamaRanger... your assumptions are off target. Proper preparation can avoid many problems. Tranny should be vented high, as well as the axles (my old CJ had all vented to the top part of the cowl, under the dash). Axle fluid should be checked before driving home, but if sealed well and vented properly they won't suck water. Starter and alternator - no problem, we've never had a failure after crossing. Exhaust manifolds haven't cracked either.
The white one had a soaked air filter element that robbed his power a bit later until he figured out what happened. Replaced the filter, all was good.
These two rigs just didn't have quite enough lift. The others were fine.
We've been making this crossing at this location for over 12 years. Sometimes we cross it multiple times on a given weekend.
Here's me & my old CJ at this spot a couple years ago

Joe is right... if you do it right you get a bow wave that makes the water much lower behind the grille than in front of it.

Same. I'm in Harrisburg, PA and all I know of is Rausch Creek and a couple small mudding lots that technically aren't legal.http://ide.li/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif
