I just bought the center cluster for my 87 YJ. All guages work except the Clock. The guy I bought it from said when he pulled the clock worked. So before i start accusing him of being a lier I wanted to see if there is any way to check and see if my harness, connection, or wire is bad. I'm not sure what wire powers the clock or how to check to see if there is power to it.

What I have already tried:
I have already cleaned the connector with an eraser and all connections look good.

Thanks

Clock is powered from the same circuit as the under dash lights. IIRC it is a pink wire. Those flimsy printed boards are known to have all sorts of problems. Have you tried putting power directly to the clock?

"Have you tried putting power directly to the clock?"

How would you do this?

Get A pencil, with an eraser. open up the gauge cluster. when you get to the point that you can see how to replace the light bulbs, you will see the printed circuit. It is what connects everything. Flat sheet, with copper tape leading everywhere. Wherever it connects anything, use the eraser to clean the contact points, on the circuit, & the gauges. None of my gauges worked before doing this, now they all work. Except for the oil gauge, & I think it's the sender.:2cents:

I have already done this and the lights in the gage work. Any other suggestions?

Using the lightbulbs as A reference, gauge contact points are what I was saying need to be cleaned. check for voltage at the clock contact points, if there is none, you could just run A wire from the clock positive to the fuse box, & ground the clock negative terminal. Just be sure to connect to battery source, or your clock will stop every time you shut the jeep off!
