Wanted to say "Hey" to everybody and to say what a great Site this is. I have been on since 5am this morning reading and last night for a couple of hours. I just bought my first Jeep, a 91 YJ 4.0 stock with a 2.5" Skyjacker lift and 31" tires.
I have not been able to find an answer for the squealing under the hood. After changing the belt and free spining the pulleys, not to mention changing both idler pulley's, I have found it to be the bottom idler. Which I have changed twice and it still squeals at all RPM's. When I spray PB Blaster on it it will stop for about 4 sec. is there a special spacer or angle that this is suppose to be on? Please help, it is very loud and is embarrassing. :

Welcome aboard!

My YJ is in San Diego and I'm in Hawaii till tomorrow so I can't verify the belt alignment or possible spacer. Maybe somebody else will chime-in to help.

Perhaps the tension is either too tight or too loose. Maybe try backing off the tension and see if that helps. If it doesn't, try loosening it. It's worth a try I would think.

I tried that too. The PO had a problem with it too, cause The front of this side has a massive amount of belt dressing. When I first got it in Jan B4 the clutch went out, I hosed it off with brake cleaner and a tooth brush. I have tried all the basics. I just got off the phone with the dealer, later tonight I am going to go and take a look at their pulley vs the two I already tried. But thanks and if you here anymore let me know.:touche:

:thup2: After repacing the idler pulley yet again, the squeal persisted! Pulling my hair out and looking further and seeing the rubber un even on the HARMONIC BALANCER! Live and learn I guess.:hoos:
