auto tranny cooler lines ?

I need to replace the cooler lines from my tranny to the radiator and to the tranny radiator as the hard lines are developing leaks/holes where the line clamps have worn thru the lines. Can I just replace the hard lines w/ hose? What kind of pressure does the tranny generate in this system and do I need a special type of hose or will any standard fuel/oil resistant hose work? this is for a '95 YJ.... or does anyone have a parts # and ballpark $ figure for replacing both lines complete from the tranny to the radiator w/ replacement parts? How about a source? Dealership not most desired but... Thank you for your input!:wavin2:

I've used all purpose hose on my tranny cooler lines all the way from the tranny to the cooler and back, with never a problem...that's the red and expensive stuff...others will tell you that hard lines should only be used for that long of a run, and I won't dispute that in the slightest...All I can tell ya is that I've never sprung a leak, but routing is very, very important, obviously! I suppose IF yer gonna use hose, stainless steel braided line would be probably the most appropriate, but that's strictly up to you. If you ARE gonna use hose, don't cheap it out...the Gates red all-purpose hose is designed for these kinds of uses...I get mine from my local Car Quest store, I'll assume that Napa has the same stuff or equivalent...I don't have a lotta faith in 'big box' auto parts stores for stuff like this, like Auto Zone, Kragen, etc... I like goin' into stores that have the stuff in boxes in the back where ya cut off as much as ya need, and you don't have to be limited to the pre-packaged stuff...

I got some hydraulic hose from a place called HosePros. They make up lines for tractors and such. 600 psi is way overkill but it was not too expensive and the wall is very thick so rubbing through is just about impossible.
