all right guys, my first post so i guess i will make it count. about two months or so ago i bought a 1994, 4.0, 5 speed. i've been working on it, as much as i been enjoying it, for the last month and a half. friday night i started to put on a rugged ridge exhaust manifold. finished putting it back together saturday morning, went to start it up and it started fine but reved, and stayed at about 4.5 5 grand. turned it off right away and tryed it again. same thing. so what do you think it could possibly be. ran fine before. i dont think i overlooked anything. could it be the iac? i can unplug everything associated with the throttle body and intake with no change.

thanks for the help

check for an air leak where the intake manifold bolts to the head.

Yep, sound like the symtom of an intake/exhaust manifold leak. The gaskets are sometimes a PITA to get all sealed.
