20 gal. I start looking for a station at 180 miles which = 12-13 mpg city.

The four banger used to get 22-23 when stock. Last time I paid an attention I didnt really check it but my estimate was about 12 with the 38s and 5.13s.

Yes they are not the most aerodynamic vehicles. I get about 12mpg in mine. I am using mine right now as my dd because I blew the motor in the comuter.

Stock 90 YJ, 4.2L, 5 sp. I fill up at 150 and put in 10 gals, 200 about 12-13 gals. Pulls 70mph @ 2K rpm. I just bought it and was told it had a Jasper rebuild :loser: at 110K miles, now has 157,000 on it. Waiting for it to blow but it's running great so far. 4" RE and 33's going on next weekend, will see how bad MPGS drop.

Dont forget to recalibrate your speedo/odo when you put the tires on, or your numbers will not be true:2cents:

Mine is pretty on, I have clocked it for mileage vs other cars and on known traveled distances.

I drive it hard most of the time too (its just to easy with the stroker motor to lay into it)

But when I am not on it, it takes almost no effort to move, I can start in second, skip 3rd and cruise in 5th at about 35 mph

In my opinion, miles to the tank is a worthless stat...figure out your MPG every tank...only takes a minute, is a very good window on how your vehicle is performing, but MPG is the only figure that means a thing...

What if you get the same numbers consistantly :)

Same thing...figure out yer mileage...then you will have tangible figure, with the only significant wiggle room being just how much you fill it up every time, in other words, do ya quit filling, for instance, when it clicks off the first time, or do you keep filling until it just won't take any more...do it the same way every time... I figure out my mileage every tank, it gives me good information on how well the rig is running, and I don't worry about things if I get like 15 MPG for a couple of tanks, then get 11 for another couple... it's just the way my YJ is, don't know why!

My stock 5spd, 4.0, '91 Islander sucks down gas like crazy. I'll calculate actual mileage after the next fill up. But I only get about 120 miles from 3/4 of a tank with mostly city driving.

I have a 91 with a 2.5 & manual. I get between 17-20 MPG so a tank will get me from 340-400 miles per tank.

2.5l, 5 speed w/31" tires, stock gears, 15 gallon tank...

170 miles or about 13 mpg, but with the speedo error, it might be more like 15.

Thats with an 9 mile work commute one-way, 8 of them on the freeway.

I went down to Staples, got one of those Vehicle Mileage/Maintenance books (but any small notebook will do) and a cheap calculator, every tankful I figure my mileage...in my YJ, it varies widely sometimes tank to tank...not sure why

'93 4.0 with 32x11.5 tires. 19-20 mpg out of every tank. Harley still gets twice that, so I "force" myself to ride the Harley once the weather thaws....

1991 4.0 5 speed with 4.10gears and 265 tires

I get 120 miles before the gauge even hits the F mark but I can only go about 280 miles before I need to buy gas real quick. On average I get about 19MPG in the summer and 15 in winter due to letting the jeep Idle for 20 minutes every weekday morning.

I believe my gas gauge registers slightly off.

Last I checked (this summer) I was getting 11.25 MPG driving around town. Which is about 160-180 miles a tank.:thup2:

With my 4.0L, 4.10s and 33s, I am currently getting about 325-350 kms (200-220 kms). However, last summer I was getting about 425-450 kms per tank on a 20 gal tank. I had it check several times but i have not been able to get my mileage back up over the last year. Last winter I was getting about 285 kms per tank.

Damn, thats crazy. My ram 2500 v10 4wd is getting 10.5. It only drops to between 9 and 10 towing my YJ on 38s on the trailer.

I get about 12MPH city with my 4.10s and 33's.

I did replace my speedo gear so my numbers are right.

My wife's '93 (4.0L, standard trans) with bad compression gets 15 mpg on oxygenated fuel (we get ethanol in the winter) and 16.5 to 17 mpg on non-oxygenated fuel. That's with 4.10s and 32s and compression between 85 and 110 psi in all six cylinders (and pretty bad blow-by). The speedo has been corrected for the gear/tire combo.

Engine has a leak somewhere, not major so I'm saving to fix, while still driving. Get between 16-18 mpg. 4-banger!!
