ok, ive asked this on another forum with no answer so hopefully someone here can. i need to replace the interior door handle. ive already figured out that i need to take off the door panel.
the new handle has plastic on the back that the "rods" slip into. besides small hands, is there a trick to it. i mean im gonna need a mirror and flashlight just to see the back of it. there has got to be an easier way. thanks in advance

umm on my YJ the handles just comes off with 2 screws
I don't know what handles you are talking

You taking about the handle you Grab to close it or the handle you pull to open it?

The plastic things that hold the rod need to be unclipped from the rod. Just fingers will work.

thanks. i ended up taking the panel off that covers the lock cylinder and door paddle. that way i could determine what rod was connected to what. then i had to break the plastic clips on the back of the old handle. from there i wiggled my hand up behind the latch to finangle the rods into the new clips.

then while i had the door apart i cleaned and lubed the lock cylinder and all the other moveable parts. it opens and closes much nicer now.

what did removing only the screw do? yeah it lets you remove the handle, but only slightly. you must have had alot play in those rods, cause mine were TIGHT!

i had to replace mine couples weeks back passenger side and i had to take the whole door apart to replace it. The screw on the handle didn't do non just loosened it a lil but didn't come off at all
