So my 2.5 inch lift came in the mail yesterday and upon reading the instructions I discovered that it called for a t-case drop. I thought that smaller lifts like this did not require the t-case drop, was I mistaken?
The only reason this really matters is because the p/o (or should i say p/o/s) decided to weld my skid plate on, so installing the t-case drop would be a MAJOR ordeal.
So what do you guys think? Do i need to install it?

Some kits have the drop, while others don't.
I suppose you could try it without it.
My guess is that the previous owner tried removing the skid & ran into issues with the frame encapsulated nuts or frozen bolts & couldn't get things to go back together correctly so decided to weld it back on & let the next guy fuss with it.

Alot of kits just come with the drop and you don't always need it. My SOA kit came with a t-case drop but it was worthless.
If it were me, I'd install the lift and take it for a drive. See if you have any vibes. If you do, then you know you'll have to address the skid plate issue. If you have to mess with it, cut the welds and drill up through the top of the frame and then use a nut and bolt to hold your skid plate on.

your going to have to deal with that skid plate welded on sooner or later.... just wait till the jeep disease gets worse... you might as well fix it up front.

oh the first time I took off the skid plate took 3 hours. since you won't have to take the skid plate off to lift it, hold off and if you have some vibes you can do it.

Thanks for all the quick replies. I'm going to try and do it like richharr and kooters said to do it and install the lift and see how she drives first and then if she has the shakes I will tackle the skid plate.
Now if only I had listened when everyone said "start greasing those bolts a few days ahead of time".....

Do yourself a favor and just plan on replacing all the bolts you can get to. I prefer to get the angle grinder and sawzall out to cut the bolts out instead of trying to loosen them up if they're rusted.
Thats just my .02 worth...
