I am gonna go to the junk yard to look for an a/c compressor for OBA, but my yards mostly have xj's & zj's. Will a compressor from a 4.0L XJ fit my 91 4.0L YJ bracket?

Here is a shot of my bracket.

i was doing that same thing a while back and pulled one from an early 90's xj at the local pick and pull, got it home to find out that they mount different, if your going to use a stock compressor just make sure you look at it before buying it, the other style has mounting ears rather than bolt holes that run vertical.

also when i was junkyard surfing i was suprised how easy york compressors are to find, so i pitched the xj compressor and ended up just going with they york.

if you already have a compressor, go ahead and use it. if you don't, why not just get a york and be done with it.

Also if you are going to use the stock compressor you will need to get another idler pulley if you plan on using the stock belt. That is the stock belt with AC. Just look for a Cherokee with air that mounts the same as your set up. I am using the stock Sandam and it works great. Yes I added it. It costs me $50.00 but did not need to fab up any brackets. Oh by the way the bolt and the mount for the other idler pulley is there already. You can grab the idler from the same Cherokee also go ahead and grab the bolts that hold the compressor to the mount too.
