I am currently running 3.07's and am changing to 4.56's.

I'm also changing the 35 to an 8.8.

As far as the front Dana 30, I know I will need to change my carrier. I currently have a lunchbox locker in the stock carrier.

When installing my lunchbox locker, I realized that with the passenger disco. The locker is uselss until it's in 4wd. I mean it's not necessary for steering like in a solid axel where it's used to free one wheel. My question is why not get a spool and use the disco for steering? Instead of the lunchbox locker, wouldn't the spool be stronger.

My plans are to continue using this as a DD with about 4 or 5 wheeling trips yearly.

You never used the words front or rear, so where is this locker? What do you really want to end up with?

Kinda like Don said... what are U trying to acheive? Most lunchbox's are auto lockers, and somewhat forgiving in 4WD, assuming your talking about the front, a spool would be a biach to steer, IMHO> why can't U use the current lunchbox U have now?

Typically this is not the strongest or most reliable setup. I'd assume since you want the front locked, you plan on doing some serious wheeling. Check out how much crap is attached to your disco to make it function. It's just too easy to smack it on a rock and break it. The setup you're talking about is a "poor man's locker" and is usually used in conjunction with a lincoln locker setup. The disco opens it up to allow for highway use, but it tugs to the left like a mofo. If you're going so far as to re-gear, you should do it the right way and use a locker that includes a carrier and at some point, replace that disco with a solid axle.
