Hey guys, I've got what is probably a TOB issue, but was just looking for "something else to grease" or look at. My clutch has been making a small squeaking noise when I depress the clutch and when I release it. The Jeep has 68k miles on it, so I wouldn't rule out the TOB It sounds like the noise is coming from under the dash, but I'm not sure as I haven't had the gf push the pedal down for me (that's tomorrow).

I have done a few searches and found that this seems to be more common to TJ's then YJ's....maybe it's just the TJ owners creating threads about it. Also, my problem occurs AFTER the car warms up a bit, it's fine when everything is cold. I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not.

Is there anything else for me to check? The TOB in my Mustang was shot for years before I replaced it, so I'm not freaking out, but I'm just not that familiar with the YJ to know what also might be causing it.

Just a note: There is no classic "whirring" noise that comes with other TOB issues I'v heard. It's definitely a squeak.

Thanks guys!

What year is your rig? Internal or external clutch slave? I'm guessing it's an external, so it could be the throwout arm pivot needs grease. I'd have the GF hit it a few times while you isolate the noise.

It's a 1995 and I don't know if it has an internal or external clutch slave.....sorry!

I had a squeaky clutch master. I suspect it was moisture in the fluid messing with the seals. It failed. I replaced the master and completely bled the whole system and the noise went away. Keep an eye on your floorboard for fluid. If it's the seal squeaking like that, a leak is not far off.

i replaced the TOB in my 94 YJ last year and my clutch pedal has started squeaking again after about 1 year actually....only when the jeep gets warm...

its extremely annoying

maybe ill try changing the fluid

Thanks guys, I'm more or less trying to validate to myself what could be causing it besides the TOB. When my TOB was going on my Mustang, it was more or less a constant thing, but with the YJ, there's definitely a noticeable difference between cold and hot. I'll check on that leak idea though, thanks guys!
