Hey guys,

This is my first post after trolling your this fine forum for the last week or so. I just picked up a 94 YJ 4.0 with 56K original and the wheelin bug has already bitten.

Safety first as it were, I need a recommendation for a set of mirrors for my jeep. I just installed a pillar mounted set with a quick release knob and... they suck. They won't hold adjustment and vibrate like they're mounted to a NASCAR. I will be returning them shortly.

So please voice your opinions/ suggestions. My only stipulation with that are black. I have seen asymetrical sets on the road that seem functional, but have been unsucessuful in locating them for purchase. Please LMK where you bought/ seen any quality sets.

Thanks,
Nick

I have my doors off and a set of safari mirrors that go in the hinges. They vibrate some at highway speed but they are good otherwise and are easy to pull in for clearance.

I think I got them at http://www.savannajones.com/ or maybe jcwhitney.

$50/pair

All the mirrors that look like stock ones but aren't have fallen apart on me on the freeway. I've gotten 2-3 pairs of chrome ones and they all broke. I went back to stock ones now. I can't say for the metal ones that mount like the old CJ ones to the windshield hinges. I never bought those.

I did not like the windshield mount ones. They still had to come off or move out of the way to open the doors, when they were on, and they were too small.

I have stock style CJ mirrors that mount to the front of the windshield hinges(you'll need CJ windshield hinges to do this). Got em from JC Whitney. They do vibrate a little but so what. I can see where cars are. I bought some of those little round mirrors for the wide angle to put in the corners. I have them adjusted so the doors are about an inch away from them at full extension. Now I can take the doors off and stack them flat. My only complaint is a whistling noise at speed with the windows down. It's not all that loud, but it's still there. Those mirrors really do look like they belong there.

I found a pic of the driver's side. The passenger side is a lot less conspicuous because it's tucked into the body a lot more. You look at it through the windshield.

It's not the batmobile but it's about as long. It's a '59 Pontiac Bonneville. Love those old Pontiacs...

That's a good price. I paid $89 for my set through JC Whitney. I just looked and I don't see the pair anymore at that price. I think mine are Omix-Ada and now they have something more generic.

yeah they are they same as all the other just rust more lol... Honestly most of the mirrors you get you arent going to be able to see that great through and will vibrate going down the road. If your looking for something you can see well out of the mirror relacations brackets are the way togo a couple of my freinds use them. Me i just tossed the mirrors not the most legal setup but oh well havent gotten in trouble in 5 years...
