Okay so I'm trying to get an order in for some gears for my 8.8. I think the jeep is currently geared but I dont know whether it has 4.88 or 4.56

How can I tell?

If you open the differential, it should be printed on the ring gear.

You don't have to pull the cover to know what ratio it has.

There's at least 2 very simple ways to tell & if you'd like to know what those are, just say so unless you just want to pull the cover.

Take a look at the differential cover. Attached to one of the cover bolts the factory attaches a tag with the ratio stamped on it. If it's missing try the other option.

You can see the tag in this old pic of mine.

Or, go to this website & look at the third FAQ down.

Hey, just do what I did when I was in auto shop class... Count every tooth on the ring and the pinion and divide the big number by the little one.
