this is an i dea that has been brewing in my head for a while..
so here it goes.. i want to do a hub conversion on my YJ Dana 30, and i am not fascinated of the idea of using the the whimpy hub that the warn kit offers for YJ/TJ hub conversion...
so..i was thinking could it be possible to actually use the whole CJ hub assembly??? since the CJ's also had the Dana 30's , but you can get the Warn Premium hubs for the CJ D 30's
so for all you Hub Gurus tell me if this is at all possible???

Not possible unless you cut off the YJ D30's yokes as well, and weld on CJ D30 yokes that will then accept the CJ D30 knuckles.
Doesn't Warn also make a 5 on 5.5" free-wheeling hub kit for YJs?
If you want to go with a beefy front end and you still have the stock rear axle, find a pair of Early Bronco axles (front D44 and rear 9") and install those.

I know for sure that when you order that kit for a TJ, you can upgrade to the 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern, which allows you to use the premium hubs that are on CJ's, and it is the same price. I am not sure about the YJ, but they are pretty much the same axle and assembly. I would give Warn a call.

The 5 on 5.5 Warn kit for YJ/TJ's is actually stronger than what you will find on a CJ. It uses an internal hub just like the Warn kit for CJ's and what you would find on a Wagoneer, 1/2 ton pickup, or Bronco/Blazer. The stock CJ hubs are external and have a tendency to break the attaching bolts when used with a front locker. These Warn kits will accept any brand of hub meant for a Dana 44, not just Warns. Personally I prefer Superwinch hubs.
