95 yj vacuum disconect axle seal

I was woundering if there were any tips or tricks to changing this seal (Vacuum disco seal). I'm going to use the treaded rod and washers trick to seat the seal. I've been having a hard time finding a washer large enough. I've heard that you can use a socket instead if the washers. Anyone have a size on a washer or socket to use to seat the seal or any better ideas on how to do this.

Are U talking about the outer axle shaft seal, or something else???

Yes the seal in the vacuum disconnect housing not the one at the diff

sounds like your original idea should work... I think this link shows it being done from the diff. side. If U fing something else in there I missed, post it up or maybe someone else can chime in that has done this.
I just changed my knuckles, but not the seal and may have to do it all over again if the dumb thing leaks! :disagree: :idmo:

A big washer alot of grease on the seal metal surround and alot of time. Its a pain in the arse and if its bad make sure you check the bearing on the left side of the housing. seal on right - bearing on left. If its a plastic bushing over there throw a metal one in there there should be about 1mm or less or play in the axle in that bearing if theres more throw a new one in if not you will be doing that seal again soon... I went through this i have a 95 yj and it had a plastic bushing i ripped that out and threw a 87-89 metal bearing in there perfect fit new seal and havent had a problem in 2 months. (better knock on something) The bearing part number is : 52406 10 .. At quadratec. Hope this helps. I thought i could get by without the bearing and it ruined the new seal in 1 day
