How does the bikini top work over the the doors. Does it seal well? Does it flop a lot. I want one I think but I have to always ratinalize my expenses now Im saving for a house. If I didnt care about the house I could turn my jeep into one.
Thanks for the info

I didn't have a problem with my bikini, but I had soft door tops and THEY sort of flopped, just a little, without any track or anything to cut the wind over them. But nothing bad at all.

Bikini tops don't seal. They just keep the sun and rain off your head. Check out a Quadratec catalog. They have one in there that doesn't flap. I'm sure it's thicker and harder to store than a standard bikini top.

Yeah, as Shadly said, there's nothing to seal too. Their main purpose is to give you some shade when driving without the top and doors. I personally LOVE my bestop bikini top. I have a strapless bikini top and it doesn't flap around too much when I tie it down tight. I can drive with it on the interstate @ 80mph with zero problems, though I have passed other Jeeps with them and theirs looks like a parachute attached to the top.
If you don't have hard doors, your soft uppers will definitely flap around though, as they wouldn't have anything to support them... I probably wouldn't try that on high-speed roads.
You may be thinking of a half-top. A halftop covers the front half of the Jeep and seals around the doors... easier to get on and off than a regular soft top but gives you no more of an "open air" driving experience than a full soft top.
If you are looking to buy either, I HIGHLY reccommend www.tops4less.com I bought my soft top from them and when I need a new bikini, they'll be my place. Free shipping on all orders and their prices are unbeatable.
Godspeed,

It all depends on who made it and how it's maintained. I've seen plenty soft tops around here that look like a Jeep bounce-house on the freeway.

my Bestop strapless bikini top can be tightened pretty tight... doesn't flap on me on the highway and it stretches a little here and there and I just tighten it a little more each time I notice it getting loose... I would imagine all new bikini tops are similar in that fashion. As far as quality, mine seems pretty nicely made. I got it from Summit Racing for a fair price.

Let me put it this way... my Bestop strapless bikini came with my Jeep and one of the side straps is litterally stapled on with like 20 staples... :-p still no problem.

I was looking for a halftop for my 1990 Yj but i could never find one, Do they make a halftop for a 1990 wrangler? And half tops keep your head dry very well but everything else gets soaked so by prepared( i got caught in a sudden downpour that left about 2 inches of water at my feet but my head and face was relatively drive because of my bikini)

You know, I just assumed they did... but they don't. I checked Bestop's website (www.bestop.com) and halftops are only produced for YJ's 92-95. I imagine it has to do with the roll bar. The next best thing would be combining a bikini top, wind jammer, and tonneau/duster cover. It still wouldn't seal the upper sides though.
