Anybody heard these in person or have any useful info?
This is Flowmaster's newest series and is, according to the flowmaster rep, somewhere between the original 40 and the super 40 series. Anyone with first hand? or second hand for that matter?

Sounds like it would be noisy. I ran a pair of 40's on my last jeep and really got sick of the noise. I've got a flowmaster 60 on the YJ and it seems to have a good tone without being irritating.

I'm with chuckp on this one. Loud and open top Jeep on the trail just don't go hand in hand for me. I wish my current exhaust was quieter then it is.

I have the original 40 series on my YJ and love it. I dont think its noisey at all then again, Im used to hearing really healthy V-8's and I only have a 4.6 stroker. Had it like this for a few years and everything is holding up well! I might just put a flexpipe in to reduce the stress being transmitted to the rest of the exhaust but other than that, no complaints here with my 40 series!

Oh I also forgot to add that Im running a Borla header, hi flow cat, the flowmaster 40 series muffler and I made a 45 degree turn down right after that! You would not believe all of the restriction that tailpipe has in it! Whatever you do just make sure you dont have the exhaust pointing towards the gas tank since this could potentially lead to the tank melting and that is never a good thing!!!

what diameter did you use for the 40 series

2.25?
or
2.50?

center in/out?
offset in/out?

shed some light

94 wrangler is what i have

I believe mine is a 2.25", center in, offset out. That should do the trick for ya! If anything you will have to remove some pipe from the end of the cat that goes into the muffler to get it to fit correctly! HTH!

hey matt,

which hi-flow cat do you have? magnaflow/car sound?? I was thinking of going ahead and replacing my cat too while i'm down there.

I have the carsound cat. If I were to get another cat I would look into the ones that are shaped a size or two above what the diameter of the exhaust pipe you are running now. Summit has them in stock. Here is the link for it. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=DTC%2D79%2D400225&N=700+4294923429+4294838974+400090+115&autoview=sku

This style could help you save space if you are running a tummy tuck or plan to run one in the future! HTH!

I have a banks torque tube with headpipe going into a magnaflow catalytic converter and flowmaster 44 muffler. It is louder than stock but I think it sounds better. and it is definitely not bothersome to me. I run with a bikini top as much as I can in summer since I don't have ac.

Yeah no kidding. I spent a time trying to fit it and finally figured to do that. Soap and a sawzall are your friends.

got it on!!! in the process of beating my old muffler off, i rattled the big, restrictive, brick inside the cat. so... i just cut it off. so now i'm running just the 44 series no cat, and man does it sound good!!! i love it!!!
