I have a scout D44 from a 62. Is that a good axle to use in my YJ. I wanted to change to 5x5.5 pattern. And if it id good where can i get axle shafts for it. All i can find is from newer Scouts.

Probably not. I'm sure it will be the same as a '62 CJ's D44, which would mean two piece and 19 spline. It would also be waaay to narrow for a yj.

I'm running a scout rear 44 in my scrambler. It has one piece axles and 30 splines. 58" wide Detroit locker and 5:38 gears. The 37's are too much for it I snap tons of axles and am going to a 60. This axle will find its way to my cj-5

58" makes that a 70's era Scout II axle

The 62 should have a Dana 27 rear axle. The later ones 66ish and up used a D44 with 2 piece axles that are pretty strong but a PITA to work on w/o the proper hub/drum puller.
Starting around 70 they had a D44 with one piece axles. Ther S2 has a D44 with 1 piece axles but is wider than the 80/800 axles.
