My problem is this:
I have a 93 Wrangler with the 2.5L I-6. My problem is I fried my rod bearings trying to push 33s up a mountain pass.
I pulled the pan, and the bearings are fried. The crank is scored and it will need to be turned.
How big of a deal is it to pull the crank and have it turned? Any idea of costs? I don't really have the time or money to do the V8 swap that I want right now so I am resigning myself to band-aid the problem by fixing the engine I have.
I am pushing 33s with 4:11s and a 2.5L. It is driveable but not ideal. Obviously I just pushed it a little too hard. After frying the bearings it would Idle OK, but anything above 2k rpms it would start to rattle. Once the engine warmed up it didn't want to idle smoothly.
Does anyone have any other ideas?

Bandaid? Roll new bearings in it and run some heavy oil. Rotella T 15w40. maybe 20w50

By the time you get done, pulling it all apart, fixing it and putting it backtogher, you might be better off fidnding someone who pulled a motor for a swap and has a 2.5.
If you have the know how and tools then by all means fix it, but after spending the last month dicking with rebuilding one motor from two and the maching costs, keep going up, I am starting to wonder if I should have just swapped in the running one I had, instead of building it up/

are you running a full floater on the rear with those 33s?

its the stock rear Dana 35 axle with 4.11 gears
I am going to take another look at the crank, maybe I can get away with just throwing in some new bearings and running some thicker oil. It is not a daily driver and I just want it to mess around in. The whole drivetrain is having issues (transmission, clutch, etc) so I am a little reluctant to sink a bunch of money into the existing drivetrain when I would rather have a v8 in it..

If there is any metal transfer from the bearings to the crank bearing surfaces or the connecting rod surfaces don't waste your time. New bearings will sieze very fast since they are thicker than worn ones and the clearance is not there due to the metal transfer. Basically if you can catch a fingernail on a surface groove your flucked. Finding another 2.5 is the way to go. Four guys and a stout iron bar can get a 2.5 in or out if it is separated from the tranny and the radiator is pulled.

Thanks for the reply.. I am looking at replacing the 2.5 with a new one. For 900 I can get a reman engine with a 7 year warranty from a local place. I already have the stands and hoists to get it in and out. Just would have rather not spent that much money on a new 4cyl... still debating it though.
