Depending on...
1. what you want to spend
2. how much elbow grease you want to apply
3. historical preservation or mutiliation you want to do
4. what uses you want for the trailer
...might depend on what flavor of 1/4 ton you want.
There are degrees of what each of us is willing to do to a 1/4 ton for mods etc, regardless good luck on the project.
Some links might be dead.....

Holy shiznit.
Looks like I've got a lot of reading to do...
Not looking to do a full resto, nor a mutilation.
Just fix it up and use it as a utility trailer.
Pull it with my ZJ to go to the dump, etc... and maybe with my YJ for camping.

Youse guys is awww-right.
Starting to think about two different projects.
Short term may be building a fairly heavy duty general purpose trailer to use behind the ZJ.
I have decided that a THIRD vehicle (a pickup) is wholly impractical, but I do need to way to move stuff like brush, debris, mulch, Jeep parts...
So I am thinking of buying a 4' x 6' or 5' x 8' trailer kit from Northern, but then "overbuilding" it with a 3500# axle, spring over, better leaf springs, shocks, better hubs, real rims and tires, etc... and building some removable 2.5' or 3' sides for it.
I can do everything but the welding, and have a coupla friends who will weld stuff if I need it.
And then slowly research and look for an M416 (or CDNM101) that I can fix up and use as a camping trailer behind the YJ.
I have decided that once the YJ is done, I am going to try to start doing some camping. Even if it is just one or two night trips. There are beautiful places within a 2-hour drive of Richmond, and I need to spend more time outdoors.
I have already bucked the trend down here by stating that the YJ is not getting any bigger (it may see some upgrades, but not any bigger) because my goal is not hard core rock crawling or muddin'...
