View Full Version : Temp guage stopped working
Put on a new exhaust manifold (header) last night, thought I hooked everything back up right, although for some reason my temp guage isn't working. I coulda sworn I plugged everything back in but obviously I missed something. Sooo... I'm guessing it is the temp sender unit that isn't plugged in, or is plugged in wrong or something. Anyone know where that is? This is on a 1995 4.0L.
btw: But the Jeep sounds pretty sweet right now lol

Look at the drivers side, firewall end of the head. It is tucked in tight next to the valve cover.

On the 4.2's it was on the drivers side of the valve cover by the firewall and screwed into the head.
On the 4.0's I believe it's screwed into the thermostat housing

I was close... :wb:
My 92 4.0 has one in the thermostat housing AND the head.
My 97 4.0 only has one in the thermostat housing.
Thanks for the tips guys, I found it, plugged it in and tested ok. It has a purple wire and plugs from the EFI strip into the block at the back near the firewall.
