I am looking for new tires. I see alot of mud, not many rocks. I spend alot of time on the road, but have a tendancey to "see where that trail goes" on a whim. (gets me stuck alot). I currently have 31x10.50 mud kings I picked up at a swap meet damn near new for $160. Going spring over in the near future and gonna need new tires.
I am looking for new tires that handle mud very well, but last pretty decent aswell. I drive the interstate daily roughly 40-50 miles. Noise isnt a factor to me.
So what do you guys reccomend?
Edit to add: I just noticed the Yokohama Geolander MT. It looks like a modified MT Claw. Any one run these?? your thoughts?
I cant belive this is this friggin difficult. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

BFG MTs work well for me, doing about the same stuff you do.
Good treadlife, good in mud, not too noisy, I've made lots of 50 mile interstate trips on mine.

BFG MT for me. I just picked up 5 33x12.5x15 for 930. I had 32K miles on my 31's and they still had a little under half tread when I took them off.

MTR's will do U better on the road/mileage and in rocks, but BFG MT's have a better rating for mud and are OK on the street, but most likely won't last as long as a DD. :shadey:
close call... but I'll stick with the MTR's. my $.o2

Well I am a little bias because I work for Firestone. If you are looking for a 33 inch tire check out Bridgestone Dueller MT or Firestone Destination MT. I ran the Bridgestones and my brother is running them now. Great flex and traction. I was never disappointed with them!

I have to disagree with ya buddy.
I, pesonally, don't like the MT/R for mud. I do agree that the BFG would be a really good choice.
Any MT is going to be loud on the street. If you can find one with sipping, it should be a bit quiter and ride better on wet roads. Check out the Pro-Comp MT's to see what I'm talking about.
My recommendation/opinion would be to go with the BFG's. They're cliche for a reason.

I think I said the BFG was better in mud, more or less. :mypony: I just like the MTR as an all around.
RockThrasher has the procomp MT's, and they work very well, but ther'es not much mud aroung here, so I'm not sure how they do comparitively.

Like Rock WoRM said I've been running Pro Comp MT's on my CJ-5 for around five years now, I got them when they had one of their buy three get one free sales, and I've been pretty pleased with them over all. The only real road driving I do is just on the way to the trail and back, but the short time I'm on pavement they seem fine and the noise doesn't seem to bad especially when compared to other MT's. I really have been surprised by how good they've done off road in the rocks and such. You can tell that the sipping does give you a little more bite on the rocks, and every little bit helps. As for in the mud I really don't know, I don't do much mudding. But if it was me and money wasn't a concern, and from what I've seen and heard from others I'd go with the MTR's, but hey that's just me.

Although I've don't have them I've heard great things about the SS TrxUS M/T tires for street and off road stuff. Something to check out. I have the BFG A/T's and they do ok, great on the road but so so when it comes to the off road stuff IMO

Not to ditch on you guys who run Pro Comp MT but in the mud they suck!!! I ran them for a couple of years and was very disappointed with them. They do not clean out well and in order to get half way decent traction I had to run them at below 10 psi. If you want to run Pro Comps and get the buy 3 get one free I would consider the x terrians a much better all around tire.

i've been running dunlop mud rovers for a while and am quite happy with them. they are great in the mud and on rocks. a lot of people say that they wear down quickly, but i haven't noticed anything excessive. i drive about 60 miles per day for more about a year and a half and still have lots of tread.
