my buddy has a YJ sprung over with stock leafs....he wants ~1.5-2" more inches of lift to clear 36's....other than buying new leafs for the YJ what kind of leafs could i put together with the YJ main leafs to get a little more heighth but still have some decent flex

adding any new leaves will cause the springs to get super stiff and ou won't get a good ride / flex....
go ahead and put the $$ down for some 1.5"-2" ift springs. they will ride better, and are designed to work with heavier tires. the stock spring rates are not appropriate for 36's.

My springs have chevy leafs in them. they are super smooth and flex like mad.
Your other option is to get a another set of stock springs and take one set apart and throw a leaf in them. they will stiffen them up a bit and make them have some positive arch.
My springs have plenty of positive arch. I love them, smooth and flexy, i could run 38s up front if i wanted too, only about 36s in the rear, 37s with some trimming. I haev a 1 inch body lift too.

Id try and go with some Rubicon express lift 1.5 inch lift springs, i haev a buddy running those SOA and running 36s with plenty of room for more tire, kinda too tall actually.

Either of those options are about the cheapest way to do it well.

That doesn't look like a very happy drag link. Do you have problems with it at flex? How does it clear the passenger side leaves?

Yes the 1.5 inch springs are very flexy.
And the drag link isnt so happy. I have a Z-link bar that i go that has been fabbed. I can turn ALMOST full flex, but i do hit the spring. When flexed i havent had any problems yet....
