it is a chop, they admit that... but the b-pillar is there. It's just really really thin. Look closer.
And I think it looks pretty damn good!

It's definitely a chop, and it's been linked to here on another thread; the person who did it - bcollier - sent it to jeepnewsnow (http://www.jeepnewsnow.com/modules/news/) a few days ago, and it's posted there as well.

You mean the b-pillar as seen through the window, right? They're both there, but the b-pillar through the window seems to be at a different angle. The b-pillar is definitely on the side facing the camera. Overall, it's a pretty good rendition of what the finished rig should look like:
http://cobratrader.com/images/07jeep4doorpriddy.jpg
...other than the different bumpers, it seems like bcollier did some homework when he came up with the pic. The thing I'm wondering about, though, is how many pieces that top is going to be on the 4-door. Okay, and I'm wondering what the half doors are going to look like, too.

is it just me or is that like, the slim version of an H3? it just looks very similar...

I like 'em both, and they do seem to have the same general shape, although the H3 is a good 4" taller and has a base ground clearance number that's almost an inch better than the base JK. The H3 is a about a foot wider, from the specs I've looked at, too. I'm not saying one is better than the other, mind you (that'd be silly; I haven't driven a JK yet), just that they're sort of similar looking in profile.
Now ... if they'd only make that H3T or the Gladiator ...
Ah well, I'll be happy with my Summit SUT version of the JK ...

and has a base ground clearance number that's almost an inch better than the base JK. .
The Base JK has a Front ground Clearance under the axle of 9.1, which equals the stated ground clearnace of the H3. The Base JK only measures 8.8 under the rear, which is .3 inches shorter, not almost an inch.

The H3, in practice, has about 9.5" of ground clearance - not ground clearance under the rear axle, not ground clearance under the left part of the bumper, not ground clearance under the rear part of the antenna, not ground clearance under the driver's sandwich - ground clearance, period. In fact, if you look at the H3's specs, Hummer uses minimum ground clearance when they define the 9.1" number; all the H3s I've run into - with the exception of the Adventure series - sit at the same height mine did, and mine had 9.5" of ground clearance, from the factory, on factory wheels and tires.
Now, you can argue about the .4" difference between the 'stated height' of the H3 from documentation that was printed before the trucks were produced, and the actual height of the truck, but it's only .4" of an inch.
...of course, add that .4" of an inch to your .3" inch argument and, by golly, that's .7" ... almost an inch.

First of all, there are no JKs on the road yet for you to perform an "In Practice" comparison between the H3 and the JK.
Second, the 2006 H3 specs show it having a minimum ground clearance of 9.1" with 32" tires...there are 33" tires available which may be why "all the H3s you've run into sit at 9.5".
Third, a more fair comparison of ground height has to be done on vehicles with the same tire size. That means using the JK Rubicon figures for minimum ground clearance which are 10.5"front, 10.2" rear. So the Jeep is 1.1" higher and, by golly, ... almost two inches taller than the H3!
Now if you want to argue about actual ride height, we're going to have to wait until the JK's are available for purchase. Until, we can only compare it fairly on paper.

Comparing the JK to the H3. I guess you all are saying the JK is going to be a yuppy grocery getter too.
First of all, there are no JKs on the road yet for you to perform an "In Practice" comparison between the H3 and the JK.
First of all, you're being stupid. Painfully, obviously, and remarkably stupid. You're arguing something that is almost completely irrelevant, and certainly not related to anything said so far on this thread. You're trying to (strike 1) have an argument where none exists about (strike 2) something you clearly know nothing about with (steeeerike 3) someone who really doesn't care about your fantasy life.
You're out.
If you have this much pent up childish aggression, post your email address and I'm sure some bot will start sending you breast and penile enlargement emails that should satisfy your silliness without having to involve anyone on this forum.
Second, the 2006 H3 specs show it having a minimum ground clearance of 9.1" with 32" tires...there are 33" tires available which may be why "all the H3s you've run into sit at 9.5".
Second, get up off yer butt and go out and measure one ya lazy-assed, monday morning overweight know nothing-wannabe quarterback troll weasle.
And no one said anything about options on any vehicle. That includes the Adventure package on the H3. the Rubicon package on the JK, bigger wheels or tires or anything else your little imagination wants to add to an argument you lost as soon as you made your first post on this thread.
Third ... see Second. With a side note that you're really, really dense.
Now if you want to argue about actual ride height, we're going to have to wait until the JK's are available for purchase. Until, we can only compare it fairly on paper.
I don't argue with the mentally challenged, and you're shaping up to be quite the little short bus co-pilot...protective helmet and all. It would be unfair of me to take advantage of your limited cognitive abilities, and wrong to give you any sort of false praise or hope by labelling your idiotic rambling as an "argument" of any type. An argument doesn't involve someone - in this case you - making things up and stating them as facts to bolster an untenable position.
This isn't a comparison between the H3 and the JK, DA...It's merely a couple of people noticing that the rooflines of the H3 and the 4-door JK are sort of similar.
You're welcome to continue your one-fisted posting ... but I honestly don't care about anything you have to say; it's wrong, it's irrelevant, it's immaterial. Like a poor marksman, you've completely missed the target.
Next time, think before your post. You're dismissed.
Your pal,
Meat.

I'm not comparing 'em; they're different rigs for different people to accomplish similar tasks.
I just agree that the roofline of the 4-door hardtop looks sort of similar to the H3, and find a certain adolescent poster ... disagreeable.

Aren't you the same guy that got lambasted with your posts about the RoadArmor conversion?
I don't know about you, but I see about 5 strikes for you in this post alone. Let's grow up and stop with the name calling. It's immature and makes you look bad, just like in the RoadArmor post where, well....others can find it and read it for themselves. There's nothing wrong with a little argument, but childish name-calling is just a bit immature. Next post for you that results in complaints, I'll see to it you get some time off.
Aren't you the same guy that got lambasted with your posts about the RoadArmor conversion?
Nope. I've only started one thread about the Road Armor Summit, and it's HERE (http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/showthread.php?t=647090).
I guess, if that's what you call lambasting, my response is going to have to be "pfft. Amateurs." I didn't find anything particularly negative towards me in that thread at all.

I don't know about you, either. So I guess that makes us even.
I see quite a few strikes for you in your post as well, but the difference between me and someone that's going to complain to you about a post is that I recognize that it's the internet, and find that it's easier to scroll past a post than it is to complain to management.
I think that complaining is childish and immature; if you can't handle the criticism that someone may level at you, then you shouldn't have made the post in the first place. That's just a 'duh' kind of thing that everyone on the internet should know by now. It has been quite a few years since Al Gore claimed to have created the internet, after all.
And besides, I didn't start it.
I'm not using that as an excuse for my proclivity to respond in kind (and usually quite a bit better, clearer and with far more style and creativity). By my statement, I'm initiating a bridge to something that my sainted Italian mother used to say, that some members here might want to take to heart: "You treata me nice, I treata you nice." Which is damned good advice, when you get right down to it.
It's far easier to not make the aggressive post that ghostship1 did in the first place than it is to make the post then complain that some food group used big words and character-defining language to kick their ass publicly, and with gusto. THAT'S childish.
I'm not going to change the way I post or how I respond to aggressive posts directed at me. Nor am I going to complain about the person who made the aggressive post to management; I've got a whole lot of keys on this keyboard that I can press to make new and exciting words, I don't need management to publically threaten someone with banishment, as was done in this thread.
If that causes me to take a powder from this forum, then so be it; I'd rather be disliked for who I am than loved for who I'm not. Facades are for suckers.
Maybe I'll read and respond to your posts later ... maybe I won't have that option. In either case, I'm me, and I ain't changing. No matter how much you threaten me. If I don't have the option of reading your posts later: have a nice life. I'll still help you out on the trail. No harm, no foul.

Meat.

I get blamed for the bad manners of others. And by a moderator, no less. Interesting.
Show me examples where someone else did.
Why? You've already accused me falsely of doing things that I clearly didn't do.
I'm unsure why you're taking a perfectly innocent thread and derailing it with something that could have been taken care up through a PM. I just don't understand why you're trying to start a flame war with a forum member.
You're a moderator, for God's sake.
Weren't you the one talking about stopping the 'childish and immature' posting? (I'll help you with that answer; you were talking about it in the post above where you threatened me. The answer is 'yes').

You can quit wasting your time reporting posts in this thread. As a collective group, the mods don't care about your little pissing match here, and we've seen this sort of thing before. You may think you are clever, cunning, and original but I assure you..... you are not.
LiftedSahara is not trying to "start a fight" with you... quit being such a baby and accept that you will get shot back at, and possibly smacked down by the mods when you come to a TECH FORUM here and start calling people "mentally challenged", "short bus co-pilot", "lazy-assed, monday morning overweight know nothing-wannabe quarterback troll weasle", and the likes.
Jesus, I am so sick of the likes of your type who come here and want to talk smack and then whine like a damn 2 year old the minute you get called on it.
If it sucks so bad here and you are soooooooooooooooooo mistreated, go over to Jeepforum.com and try your schtick. I'm sure they would just LOVE your type there.

I'm a bit curious how it's going to look with the top removed. really kinda bummed they couldn't find it in there to make a 2dr unlimited style version, but I understand the limited market for such a thing. especially given they made the KJ a bit longer and wider than the TJ in the first place.
