I'm sure this has been asked before. I did a search and didn't find it.

We just picked up a 1995 YJ 4 cyl, 5 speed. it was owned by an older fellow, has 69k miles on it. No mods at all, she is bone stock.

What kind of gas milage should we be getting with it?

Best I ever got with my 4.0 was 18mpg. It's not really a DD, so I really don't keep track anymore. A friend runs a '90 with the 2.5, he says he's getting 22mpg. It's all stock with a new Jasper engine.

I've got a 97 TJ 2.5L 5 speed manual.
Bone stock.
I consistantly get 23-24 MPG (if I go easy)

Keeping it under 60...around 22.

If I push her to 70...around 17.

95 2.5L 5 speed, stock, 174,000 miles

Huh, Im only getting about 12, I think its time for a new engine! I only have 115k, but it has alot of blowby. the weird thing is, it will still do 70 just fine!

Thanks Guys.

I figured it would probably a little over 20 mpg highway. It’s only going to see real highway use 3 or 4 times a month when I drive it to work. It’s going to be the wife's daily driver around town 45 to 50 mph max, with the occasional dirt road adventure.

I'm in the same situation as you man. It's just that I'm 20k into that. I have been having blowby and getting 12-16 since 115k in.
