Hey Jan... nice write-up on the exhaust. Think I'll print that one out. :shades:

Also,...

I just saw your write-up on your SF trip! I glad U guys had a good time. However, I did pick out some key words that U mentioned...

COLD

EXPENSIVE

PARKING

ONE WAY STREETS

FOG

Oh Yeah... AND COLD

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

:hah:

I recall your Q. on the trip way back, but never saw a follow-up, so did'nt know U were going. Out here, the coast weather is flip flop. Summer is winter and winter is summer. It can be sunny and nice, but usually not in June, July, and Aug. If ya would have traveled inland toward the valley, U would have found some nice 100*weather mucho pronto. LOL. I can shoot ya some pics of what Monterey looks like in spring if ya want 'em.
If ya ever plan another trip out this way, and U want to see Yosemite, let me know and I can show ya around. I'm only an hour away. Lots of good 4x4 trails, too. (and not half as expensive)

Thanks!! We did spend a day out in Napa Valley - the only day we actually got to take the top down on the convertible (rental). It was close to 80 degrees inland. That was sweet!!
We went down to Carmel :jawdrop: Never saw so many exotic cars in one place!! Did the Monterey Aquairium, the coastline drive....... Awesome time.
The next time we head out that direction - will certainly be the Grand Canyon or Yosemite and Moab (rent a jeep - unless I can find a cheap shipping company :coool: )

Any estimate on what the whole thing cost you?

$185 for the collector pipe (includes the CAT) from the dealership. The dealership is a club sponsor which made a big difference. The 6" extension piece was free from a local exhaust shop (they used a piece of spare pieces they had laying around). Clamps cost about $2 each. The elevation pipe cost $6 from another local exhaust shop. A couple clamps - $4 ($2 each). The teardrop bushing I already had....and my husband milled the hole out.
My husband took the O2 sensor to work and spliced in a piece of wire to lengthen it.

You could do this a lot cheaper if you wanted to and could find a used 97 TJ collector pipe from a junkyard.

I've been wanting to go to one of the exhaust shops and ask them how much it would cost to custom bend a pipe similar to this but excluding the CAT just for ****s and giggles.... There are so many ways you could do this and the cost ranges depending on how you do it.

Sounds like you got a good deal on the parts. I had a similar set-up built by a buddy at a local exhaust shop for a good price, which worked well too.
