My YJ in black and currently has the factory coat, with up to 5 coats of cheap gloss spray paint and one coat of higher quality spray paint. I'm guessing that I'll never really get a good shine with any spraypaint, right?

Who did the work and how was it done? I.E. rattle can,HVLP, ect.

The paint job is done well it just has NOOO shine, even when waxed. Ya it was done by a "rattle can".

With the little info. you've provided, I'll take one more stab at this.

First off, U can't expect a "great" paint job using rattle cans. I know lots of guys do this, and I don't want to get into a rattle can vs. whatever debate, but its just not the best way to paint for obvious reasons. (IMHO)

Secondly, there are lost of factors that could have made your paint job come out bad. I.E., was if humid that day? was there good prep? good primer? were the cans held too far away and there's too much overspray? ect.ect.

U should be able to get a good shine one way or another. Sounds like your going to have to start over to me and do some good prep and maybe try some real auto. grade material to achive what U want.

Sorry, I didn't think about posting what type paint I used. Any actually the shine isn't THAT bad. I waxed it last night and it looks decent today so maybe I just had to keep it dirty for a while, the clean it to realize I do have shine.
