My uncle is looking for a Jeep. He like the way my TJ rides but is wanting to spend $6k-$7k and TJ's all seem to be higher around here. Would a YJ with an OME kit ride as smooth as a TJ?

Putting an OME suspension on a YJ is gonna get you as close as your gonna get to a stock TJ suspension. I have the kit in mine and it rides great. Get full greasable bolts for all the spring mounts while your at it. Helps. I have had a few people drive my Jeep that have owned CJ's and YJ's and they all commented on how well my Jeep rode.

2nd that...

I had the OME springs and bilstein shocks and was very happy with the ride. Tire preasure really plays into also, at 35 PSI it was pretty rough, 25psi and its smooth :mega:

My 4.5 Deavers and some Bilstien 5100's have a super soft ride. And they flex up a storm :thup2:

I'll 2nd that. By the way, how smooth would you say your 4 link in the rear is?

Either way, a YJ with leafs will never ride like a TJ, but on the other hand, your YJ will run much smoother than a CJ with CJ springs.

Buddahh :burnzout:

The part that really amazes me is the damping quality of a high end coilover shock. Theres a pretty good bump on the road near hear and if I hit it fast with my '04 F150 the truck rebounds so hard it almost lifts the rear wheels. With the coil overs on the Jeep you almost dont know the bumps there, the rebound is so smooth and controlled. :rockz:

first time i drove a jeep was down to some rv park across the lake from sea world. there was a sizeable speed bump in there, and i hit it thinking "hey this is a jeep, it's a 4x4" and thought the whole thing was going to fall apart :(
