Huge pain...tons of parts and lot's of welding..cheaper going and buying a TJ...There are lifts and kits that give you the same ride as a TJ with coils..aftermarket...bolt on stuff. Changing over to a TJ...yikes...winter project!

step 1, sell YJ
step 2, buy TJ

If you're going to do links and coils, a TJ system is FAR from the right answer, the rear links have far to much anti squat for a good wheeling set up and the front end unloads like nobody's business when trying to climb due again to the poor linked design for a lifted rig. If you want TJ coils and links, do as the others have said and by a TJ like everyother cheerleader on the block. If you want coils and links, do some research, ask questions, and build/design a good linked system that will work very well off road. I run with LOTS of YJ's and other leaf spring rigs that now run custom coils/airshocks/coilovers with links and they work fantastic cause they did their homework and build a great design.

If you want advice on 4 linked YJs head to Pirate. Check out Blue Torch Fab too.

I agree with the others (except that one part Wally mentioned). Buy a TJ or try a 4 link setup.

Rock Krawler has an interesting kit. http://www.rockkrawler.com/

I put a 3 link long arm setup in the front of my YJ with 10" coilovers. I had planned on using TJ coils, but came across the coilovers at a price I couldn't pass up. In the end it was a lot easier to put the coilovers in b/c they are much narrower than TJ coils. The frame on a YJ is wider in the front than TJ's so it is much harder to make things fit.

I plan on putting rear TJ coils in the rear of my YJ some time next year. As for now I plan on a 4 link.

I'm doing it right at the moment....

Last december I stripped down my '92 4.0 YJ to repair the bad parts on the chassis. To cut a long story down, not only the chassis was bad, the body also needed some attention.

The idea was to built a soa with 2,5" RE reversed eye springs. After a while I decided to built my own custom Long Arm system and convert the YJ to coilsprings.

In january of this year I went to a parts supplier to get myself some new fenders. It happened to be so that he got a crashed '96 ZJ with 5,2 V8... It didn't took too long to decide to sell my 4.0HO and buy the V8 with 44RE tranny + all the wiring.

Ok I'm way off topic now.

What I'm trying to tell is that a conversion to TJ spring setup on a YJ take some serious adjustments to the YJ frame. For example the back "hoops" in the TJ frame are much higher than in the YJ frame. A TJ frame has also 2 corners in the front to make place for the coil springs.

To give you an idea what i've done so far to my frame:

Here I've cut 8 V's in the front of my frame to bend the frame into TJ style front to make place for the coil springs.

Here is the frame with the new (TJ style) backside. The back of my frame was really rotten so I just cut it off and welded the new parts on. You also see here the supports for the coil springs and shocks in front.

As you can see, it's taking pretty serious cut and welding to your frame. But till this point I don''t regret that I started this project :)

This weekend are my control arms finished so next week I'll be installing them incl. the (also custom made) 6,5" over stock coil springs.

When the YJ actually is standing on her new suspension I will post the process here with more pictures and details.

Greetings,

(sorry for my bad english ;) I'm just a dutchman)
