Ok, this is just the beginning of my new project that I have begun.. and for all those jeepers that insist of taking on more than 1 project at a time.. I sincerely advise against it..(plus my wife is bitching at me more and more)

here is the project(s) that I have begun. Pulling out the old 258, adding a newer Fi 5.7L Lt1 engine. Pulling out my tranny, adding Th400 Tranny in its place.. Pull tcase.. adding D300 twin stick. Pulling off both axles, and replaceing with 78' scout Dana 44's with ARB lockers, and 3.73 Gears (dont want to gear down too much with lot of power) Pulling off all bodywork, for new paintjob, rollbars and rollcage going to be added to. Adding the old cj7 Dash conversion to it. 35's and some new rims, Spring Over Conversion, Bilstein 7100 Shocks...Cleaning up frame and repainting it, and new painless wireing kit too.. thats all i can think of off top of my head.. I know I am missing something... Going to Rhinoline, inside tub, underneath tub, and Hardtop. Here is the beginning pics, if anyone can think of anything to do while all this junk is off... let me know.. Sure could use some advice..... I dont even own any tools :)

Check the frame by the rear of the shackles. This is the first time it rotted out. (passenger side from about a year ago)

And the second time (just got fixing this a few days ago)

Way to go, looks like a speed density LT1 which is easier to tune in a conversion application. What year did it come out of? I'd keep a replacement optispark handy if you plan on running in any water. Overall i'm extremely jealous!:squint:

came out of a 93 'Vette.... .how much is new optispark??

Optispark is basically the electronic distributor cap, for lack of any better description. The older LT1 engines, including yours, were sealed and prone to moisture building up, then corroding, and the engine running like crap, if at all. GM's solution was to make a vented cap for it. It was better for cars driven on the street, but if you plan to be splashing thru creekbeds or anything, that might be bad too. The bad news is, back when I replaced mine in 1998, a new optispark was about $400. You may never have any problems out of your LT1, they're all around great engines in my opinion. I'd take a close look at the condition of the optispark, and replace it before you get everything totally buttoned up. A good running LT1 thru a flowmaster is one of the greates man-made sounds ever in my opinion! I'm soo jealous!

Meh...

RamJet 350 with a couple more mods. Pushing 400hp. :brows: :rockz: :rockz:

I opted to stay with a standard and went with the SM465. I have a D300 as well. I'm running 4.56's because my SM465 has a key granny gear. I'm rolling on 37s.

You'll love you engine... Fuel Injection is so comforting to have. Just get in and turn the key. No worries. No BS with the pedal, choke, POS factory carb, etc.

What are your fuel pump plans? I went with a poly gas tank, hp electric fuel pump and all SS lines.

TO be honest I havent go that far into it yet to have to worry about that.. right now since I am doing frame up... More worried about the suspension I am putting in.. Thinking of going COIL over.. or spring over.. not sure quite yet...I am going to SS lines on everything tho... brakes and fuel...

I stuck with leaf springs, but went SOA. Just be sure to get a traction/torque bar for the rear end. :agree: That V8 will wrap springs with the quickness.
