borla header is glowing red

I recently got my 89YJ back up and running - kinda. It has been sitting around for 8 years and it now has rebuilt I-6 with a Borla header, Holley carb, and HEI distributor.

I noticed after about 2 minutes of running the header glows red - I am assuming this is because it was running real lean - so I adjusted the carb richer and the header still glows.

I checked the tail pipe and it is blowing exhaust pretty hard - so I don't think it is clogged.

Any body out there have any suggestions?

I had that happen on my old truck's V8 after first firing up post-rebuild. The timing was way retarded causing the still burning gases to enter the exhaust, once adjusted all was fine.
