Hey when I was adjusting the drag link for the steering wheel, I noticed that my leaf springs and different rods were developing some rust and looking pretty bad. What do you guys recommend I do to clean them up a bit. I was thinkin about takin a wire brush and cleanin them up, but I'm afraid that'll cause more rust in the long run. Is there any special paint I can use or protecting spray?

Thanks

POR15 covers the rust and seals it. They make it in a variety of colors from red to black. Or just take the wire brush, clean it up and use a rattle can of black.

I've used POR15 a lot, and I have to say Rustoleum paint holds up in the long run much much better. Go with Rustoleum.

anouther vote for rustoluem or an under coating spray
just buy a can every couple of months and spray it down

That is exactly what I do. :agree: I figure after enough times, I will have a pretty thick protective layer under there.

Another vote for this one...that's what I do. I was surprised how well it's held up...after using like 2 cans the first time...I've only used 1 can for touch up...and that's after an entire 12 months in Upstate NY where salt is a major issue. Definitely worth the 4 or 5 bucks a can

Every Spring, I slap on a layer of rustoleum semi-gloss black paint to everything under my Jeep that is black. I just wire brush any thick rust, wipe it down with a wet rag, and throw on some new paint.
