Coolant is leaking out just above where the lower radiator hose connects to the water pump and running down the hose. Does that mean the water pump is shot?

If so, has anyone found one that lasts longer than a few years?? :headpop:

It really depends.. if the jeep overheats quickly, chances are your pump took a dump. If not.. check the clamps and make sure they are tight.

Check your clamps first like love24wheel said. Also check your fluid level. A quick way to tell if your pump puked is to turn the Jeep on in Park/Neutral with E-brake set on level ground. Then shut the engine off and quickly get out of the vehicle and look for coolant pouring on the ground. It's good to have the hood open as well to see if you can see where the coolant is coming out of. Or maybe your T-stat is blocked up?

The jeep hasnt overheated, since I havent driven it when it was leaking. Last time i drove it when it began leaking, i didnt notice any odd temperatures. I opened the radiator and it is pretty far down on coolant, so a bunch leaked out already. I can't see it leaking directly from the water pump, but it is definately leaking from somewhere right above the lower radiator hose, which is where the water pump is, and running down that hose. I'll probably have to pull some parts off to see exactly where it is leaking from.. :teary:

There is a weep hole on the water pump. When it goes bad, anti-freeze will seep from it, letting you know it needs replaced.
