Another reason stock shackles are worthless!:agree:

One I am glad it worked.
Two you have a winch, Just winch the spring hanger up and save some time with all the booyfab next time. Bottom line is you got off the trail but I think you missed an easy solution.

I like it!

Good thinking.

I have Shackle reversal...So when I broke a shackle, I just continued down the trail and then drove the hour home. Didn't really feel any different (without swaybar or trac)

haha, awesome. another reason to carry a high lift jack and a 1/4" extension. hehe

-Erik <---- probably wouldn't have been that creative... but who knows

Hehehehe good reason why an extra set of shackles in the parts bag is some of the cheapest insurance you can get.

IMHO the weakness of a stock shackle is a benefit as it is easy to replace and saves your spring and frame from potential damage (have fun trying to put a springhanger back on!).

Unless you're wheeling the local mall, one of the first things you do to a YJ is replace the front springhangers with something that isn't crap. My dachshund can do better welds than I found on my 94.
