Apparently he's a freaking idiot with either way to much coin, or just no common sense, cause that is a fawking shame to see a 2004 rubi $30K with at least $10K in mods get thrashed like that.....why the hell would you not spend that on a comp buggy or buy an older TJ and mod it up for a lot less:naw: SOme people just shouldn't be allowed to procreate.

When buying a used Rubicon you should look under it, at the skid plate, to see if it has been wheeled hard.

If you're gonna thrash something, what a great pick if you can afford it. I don't think he's an idiot - I'm jealous he has leisure time & funds for such fun.

Bob wheels his rig hard. I remember when it was all stock and he just beat the crap out of it. When the day was done, he'd take it to the dealer and let them fix it. The funny thing is, that is his wife's Rubi! All I can say is he has fun with it can afford to fix it, so who cares!

Or is it the less damage you have the better wheeler you are?

disagree. It doesn't even looked that trashed. It's just sheet metal damage from the picture. Anyway, he's having fun with it and ain't skerd to get a couple of scratches.

I'm diggin that flat fender job :agree:

Well i've always thought some of you guys are a little off on this TJ forum, and this thread just confirms it. I wheel my rig every single weekend, i also drive my rig 90% of the time during the summer as a DD. I haven't taken near the body damage that rubi has, and i'd be willing to bet i get out just as much as him if not more on just as difficult a trail if not harder every weekend, there's nothing to be proud of with an 04 vehicle looking like a heep of $hit :naw: it just shows you have more $$ than brains, cause a smart person would have invested that into a buggy that they can roll over and over again with out damage, or would have built a bigger badder TJ for a lot less that is set up to take that kind of abuse not try to tube out 6 month old NEWBICON :naw:

I think a rubi is really an awful platform to start off with for a hard core rig, a stocker TJ sport with a 4.0L is much better suited cause i personally wouldn't want to drop $30k on a stock rig that has a driveline capable of 33's before you worry about breaking stuff. To each their own, but i've seen a lot of sweet TJ's on this board that are built properly, get wheeled often and i'm sure cost a lot less than that heep. It looks like he treats it like a $5 hooker, which is fine if it's a beater to begin with but to take a prom queen and turn her into that just isn't right. It was brand spanking new rig 6 months ago and now look it. Rubis are great rigs for moderate 4wheelers who don't have the time or experience to invest in locking and gearing a rig, they can buy one, throw nice bolt on 3.5"-5" lift and some 33" tires and go just about anywhere they could possibly imagine.

I used to wheel the piss out of an 01 XJ limited with heated leather i drove off the lot brand spanking new, then locked it front and rear with 33's and the thing had 12K miles on back in 01 when i did all this, but after a few cases of body damage and a minor flop, common sense kicked and i got the YJ to thrash on the trails, not a new rig with lots of straight body panels :naw: I'm going to stop cause the sight of that rubi is just disgusting the piss out of me:bsod:

I gotta agree with you....makes no real sense....take a 97 TJ, hell, you can get them fairly cheap....mod the hell out of it and you have a better rig for a ton less money....

Like mine for instance....bought it used, 97 SE...bone stock when I got it....paid about $1,500 under book for it....I've added a 4" lift, 33" tires, 9500lb winch....rocker panels....etc ect....and aint even close to having spent $15,000 on it, much less then the $25k for a new Rubi plus mods....

I've never understood the phrase "Chicks did body damage". If they dig it then by all means let them tear the crap out of their own vehicle and not mine.

I don't think an unwashed, dinted to hell jeep should be some sort of status symbol. Sure if might mean you wheel your jeep hard and enjoy it or it means you beat the crap out of it and don't care one bit about it. I'm all for having fun in your jeep and pushing the limits but if doing that means I've got to beat the crap out of it and very likely tear it up then I don't want to do it. Jeeps are to expensive(for me) to do that not to mention the mods. I thought one of the reasons for doing mods on a jeep were to help it overcome more difficult obsticles easier with less chance of failure.

I have no problem with a beat up jeep. It's more with the attitude of if it ain't beat up then you aren't using it right. Maybe it ain't beat up because you are wheeling it better.

And yes since I'm in the market for another jeep I'm avoiding any that have been wheeled. If I tear it up wheeling it's one thing. I don't want to buy someone elses damage though.

damn those of you who bash this guy are just jagoffs. He's not even here to defend himself nor did he ask for his pictures to be posted for one.

Secondly, if he has the money to do that, then getting mad at him over it just shows your jealousy.

Thirdly, you don't know him or anything about him to be bashing him. I hope he buys 10 rubis and puts a brick on the gas pedal and drives them into the ocean just to piss you all off. It's his money, and who the hell are you to bash him for how he uses it?

Thirdly, you don't know him or anything about him to be bashing him. :beerchug: Did you forget this is JU where every Rubi is owned by a poser wannabe rich kid.. Owning a Rubi is reason enough to bash anyone.

What can I say, I like it. Bob is a hardcore wheeler and he follows us around. When you follow buggys around all day with a full bodied Jeep its gonna get dented up.

Not everyone knows what they plan to do when they buy the Jeep. Im sure Bob didnt have this in mind when he bought it. I know when I got my Jeep i thought 33s would be the limits and I would be happy. Well Im never happy and I like beating the crap out of my Jeep. Our modo is make it or break it, I never pull cable unless Im broken, why, because thats how I am and I can afford to keep fixing it. For those who want a daily driver Jeep with no major damage, awesome, its a free country and I have no problem with other Jeepers taking it easy and having fun their way. So why call someone stupid for enjoying their Jeep their way.

Either way I dont care, just figure I state my opinion. But its definately more entertaining to watch Bob wheel then normal people. Jeep installed rev limiters for a reason, not using them is wasting money. :-)

By the way Bobs is a 2004 Rubicon and it just left my shop and it had 3800 miles on it.

I've wheeled with him before when his Jeep was near stock. He wheels hard and thats what happens. I think it looks fine, and if you can afford to do it, then go for it. Looks good Bob:beerchug:

damn man I thought it was going to right itself! Isn't your engine running without any oil at that point, as it can't get through the pump?

Ya, i thought I had it for a second. You can run it on its side for a couple of seconds before you run into problems. I6 motors are tough, I have run mine on its side till it started smoking and the motor really started sounding wrong.

I left it outside for a few rainstorms and I got water into my fuel cell. Didnt know it till I went wheeling and it started running funny. Sounded like a diesel according to my friends. Well i figured with gas prices so high, a gas water mixture was something I should try so i wheeled the rest of the day until I broke a front axle. Well I have desided against it, since I had to drain my tank, pull apart my motor, check the rods and lifters, all ok, and then stole the ingectors out of my buddys motor and figured out it was a bad injector. Now I get to figure out which one, so i dont have to replace them all.

Well shes running ok again, so it off to paragon this weekend. Wonder what I will break this weekend. Im putting my money on a front left axle shaft, since i blew up the hub last time and now I put flanges in.

Hook it up to the computer. It will be able to tell you which cylinder(s) isn't/aren't putting out as much power as the others. Actually, I don't have a 4.0L so i dunno, how many injectors do they have? I would assume it's TBI and it has maybe 2...I don't picture there being 6 for some reason.

99BoggerTJ
10-07-2004, 09:16 AM
6 injectors, 1 per cylinder. If it was 2 it would be pretty easy to figure out which one it was. Or with only 2 at 35 bucks a piece I would have just replaced both, but 35 times 6 means I will spend teh 10-15 min to figure out which one is bad.
