View Full Version : My Jeep models (worth the wait for the 56K folks)
Here are some of my plastic 1/24 Jeep models I have built and currently working on. There is alot of scratch building due to the fact that the model companies do no0t make models with lefts or other offroad products. Enjoy

This one is almost completely scratch built. The frame, and body are the only things I am using from the actual kit. Coils, 4-link, cage, all scratch built

This is not a Jeep but it is going to have a fully functional scratch built suspension. The 1/4 eliptical rear is nearing the final stages. It can definately flex.

:clapping: Good Job! Where are the TJ's
Nice! Where'd you get the Swampers?!!
So far there are no model companies producing 1/24 scale TJs. Revell has a 1/24 Tomb Raider Rubicon that has a release date of Nov 04. The only thing is it is going to have a diecast body. You will be able to purchase it as a built kit or one you have to assemble.
The Swampers are 1/24 scale which come out to about 38's. They were originally maunufactured by American Satco, but they stopped producing them. There are a few folks that casted them in resin but they are hard to locate. I have seen them go for about $20, which is pretty steep for some model tires. Do a search for American Satco and you will see them on thier website.

Those are very nice.
Do you ever enter them in shows or something?
Or do you belong to some model club?

where can you buy model jeeps? i cant seem to find em...
To be honest the best place to find Jeep on Ebay. I took the liberty of doing a search for you and came up with 50 results
Ebay Model Jeeps (http://search.ebay.com/Jeep_Automotive_W0QQcatrefZC3QQcoactionZcompareQQc oentrypageZsearchQQcopagenumZ1QQfposZQ5AIPQ2fPosta lQQfromZR2QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ2QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQsacatZ 2580QQsadisZ200QQsbrftogZ1QQsocdpfcatZ2580QQsofocu sZbs)
If you don't like Ebay there are quite a few online hobbyshops available to purchase these kits from. Try checking out any Michaels, Hobbylobby, or any other craft/hobby stores in your area. One thing you will find is that alot of these kits are discontinued and Ebay is the best bet. You can usually buy a kit for about $10 - $20. Here are some of the 1/24 scale kits you will see, discontinued ones marked;
Tamiya Jeep Wrangler - discontinued (ebay)
Revell 2n1 CJ-7
AMT Daisy Duke CJ-5
AMT Swamp Rat CJ-5 (same kit as Daisy Jeep, few differences)
AMT Hogans Heros CJ2A
Tamiya Grand Cherokee
Revell Tomb Raider Rubicon (Metal body, and ok detail on the chassis. Definately worth the money though. Has roughly 35" tires with beadlocks)
There are many more but you get the idea Good luck in your search

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you guys. As a matter fact I have plans to do a scrambler. I have two of the CJ7 kits so I will be able to make it work out. I also have built a Commando with a mild lift. I don't have any pics of it right now abd to be honest I don't know where the model is (just moved and everything is a disater) Once I find it I will get some pics of it for you you guys.

the swamper tires are on ebay every now and again. I just bought some for a model I'm doing.
I've also got an RC rock crawler. custom cut boggers, beadlocks, 4 wheel steering, locked front and rear, custom tube frame, coilovers. The works. I'll start a different thread about it later.
Just wanted to let you know about the tires on ebay.
