1990 YJ 4.2L, Original Carb.

I've read a few posts about this. Most recommended replacing the fuel pump.

After sitting for a couple of days, I have to crank the engine quite a few times before it'll start. Last weekend I replaced the fuel pump and the rubber hose attached to it. I tried to start it wednesday and it was still the same, crank-crank-crank-start. She idles very smooth once she starts (for a carbed vehicle).

It is definitely a fuel delivery problem. Any ideas where else fuel might be bleeding down from?

Thanks

Jules

Its like not talking for a long time... your throat gets a little dry.

What kind of shape is the carb in? Might it be leaking out from the bowl, either into the engine, or back into the non-pressurized fuel line? I haven't had a carb in 10 years, so I am out of practice.

The carb looks fine. I've only had the jeep for a little more than two years so I'm not sure when of if it's been rebuilt. I rebuilt carbs before on my old Mustang and I remember that the fuel bowl would fill very quickly. I gotta assume the smaller carb on the Jeep should ill even quicker.

The jeep sits in the garage so I'd smell gas if it were leaking.

Any idea where I can get a rebuild kit for this carb?

I wouldn't expect it to be leaking outside, but inside. Returning feul to the line through the needle and seat after the pressure lets down from the pump, or leaking into the engine somehow.
