oil pump ???

Im changing the oil pump in my 4.2. I bought the pump but it didnt come with a screen and I want a new screen. Ive seen the screens in some catalogs and online. Everytime I saw one I saw a oil pump screen installation tool do I need this thing or can I put the two together with out it. My haynes manual says nothing about this anyone whos done this before please help

Has no one here put an oil pump screen on a oil pump for a 4.2??????????????????

It has been awhile since I have done it and have one to do. 4WDH has the screen and I didn't use the special tool, but I think it might be easier. I think I might have used a wrench on the lip that goes around the screen. I use a hammer to hit the wrench to drive the screen into the pump housing.

Put mine in dry ice. Slipped in No Problem
