increasing my mpg

well, with gas prices here in southern california (san diego) at $2.30 a gallon, i seriously need to increase my fuel economy. i am driving a lot easier now (not taking off like a bat-outa-hell) but its just not cutting it, takes me over $40 to fill up and it isnt going to get any better, so i need to upgrade some stuff. spark plugs, any recommendations? air intake, how much improvement is there in mpg? is it worth it to go with the k&n fipk? any other things i can do? thanks to anyone that responds!

A couple more little things that together got me about 2mpg is cleaning the throttle body and changing the fuel filter if you haven't done so in a while. Otherwise, fold down the windshield and wear a motorcycle helmet. You'll double your mpg.

why would you need a moto helmet?? CA law states that you need eye protection if traveling over 35 mph. So all you really need is a good set of wrap around sunglasses. you can get those at any moto shop.

You're pushing a brick with a tent on it down the road. Serious wind drag time here. You're only real gains will come from slowing down.
That being said, if I slowed down up here in Los Angeles I'd get run over. :giveup:

screw that, get yourself a motorcycle. my BMW K75s gets like 300 miles on my 5.2 gallon tank
