Is the inline 6 in an AMC spirit a 258 and is it the same as in the YJ, I posted here because if anybody would know it would be the YJ guys. Will it bolt up to my TF 999.

Yep. Same 258 was used in CJ's, early YJ's, Spirits, Eagles and Concordes.

I think there's a smaller amc i6 too. like 232 or so.

You are correct. There was a 232 used as the stock I6 from 76-78 and in 79 they switched to the 258 as the stock I6.

will it have the same bolt pattern for the tranny as the 4.2.

The AMC cars with the 258 will have the short screen on the oil pump and the oil pan is smaller than the ones used on the Jeeps. So I'm not the only CJ guy that patrols the YJ board to help keep them straight.:agree: :agree: :agree:
