I want to put an undercoating on my YJ. Something to cover and inhibit rust. Any suggestions? I was hoping for a spray on as opposed to brushing something on.

If you want to prevent rust....

1.) Go to the store and buy a gallon jug of bar and chain oil.
2.) Pressure wash the underside of your Jeep.
3.) Start the Jeep to warm it up and dry it off.
4.) Let the Jeep cool down.
5.) Scrounge up some used engine oil. (If you don't have any, Change your oil)
6.) Mix a little bit of the used engine oil into the bar and chain oil until achieving a snotty mixture.
7.) Spray the entire under side of your Jeep with the mix.
8.) Start the Jeep and let it run idling so the exhause heats up really well and gets the mixture off of it.
9.) Get in your Jeep and drive down a Dirt Road making sure it's a dusty one.

Now you won't have rust problems anymore. Feel free to do this before the winter. That really helps. Plus if you have rust under there, this stuff will eat away at it making it nice again.:beerchug:

People are going to say it dissolves your bushings. :bsflag:  I've done this since I learned how to drive. I barely have ANY rust under my 89YJ.

I just got done doing the old undercoating thing, that bar and chain oil sounds like a good Idea too.
I just went down to Wal-Mart and grabbed 2 spray cans of their "KleanCoat" rust converter, and one bottle of the paint on"KleanCoat" rust converter and then I bought 1 can of black spray paint. then I went to Advanced Auto parts grabbed 3 cans of Margehyde (sp) rubberized undercoating

then washed, sprayed, and painted then undercoated. I liked the paint on stuff for larger flat areas.

it looks great.

My engine leaks oil and provides automatic undercoating. Its great and I dont have to change my oil that much cause im adding a quart every 1500 miles
So make your jeep leak oil it should do it on its own dont know whats wrong with your jeep
