I have a hole cut for the TJ gas cap and all I have to do is connect the filler to the tank. if you have done this swap what hose did you use? the part stores are closed and all I have is the YJ hose and the original doner TJ hoses. I have tried to reuse the metal YJ filler spout but that defetes the purpous of being able to leaving the pump nosel unatended.
any ideas that I am overlooking?
Thanks
Matt

Several people in DEJA including muself have done this modification.
I used a new TJ round plastic filler then bolted / screwed the orginal
YJ filer housing to it. Keeping the vent on the rear side but place it as higs as possible
We reused the orginal hose from the YJ then we cut them and put spacers
in.
After several years of driving like this I still think this ia a great modification.

I tried the TJ filler with the YJ hose, the TJ filler and the TJ hose, the YJ filler with the YJ hose and so far the best thing is the yj filler(metal neck) and like you said the YJ hose, but modified. that way I think I can keep from kinking the hose.
thanks blue!!!

I was looking at doing mine as well. What did you guys do with the inner quarter panel support? It runs right into the area where I figured I'd install mine.

I've been wanting to do this for a while too...I've got the TJ plastic filler thing waiting to go.
Can't ya'll buy the proper length of fuel rated rubber hose in the proper diameter instead of using spacers??

jan the fule hose is different sizes at each end.
jules, I just took the sazsaw and notched out a hole where I thought the new filler would "hit". I did have to cut a small pice off of the TJ plastic cap because I have installed TJ fender Flares and they sit further back on the fender than they do on Jeep TJ's.

blue is your lisens plate bracket OFF OR FROM :-)
get ya a tj plate holder and cover that hole in the back where the old filler used to be. when I found a wrecked 97 TJ I got the gas filler, bumper, plate holder, and a bunch of other stuff I have fitted to MY YJ.

I thank you my Brother safe travels to you also :agree:
BTW: I wanted to keep the Yj plate holder because I am running my rear OBA fitting there. Just pull down the plate and plug in the air line.
