Seems like I have a leak in exhaust manifold on 1990 2.5 4cyl.
I can hear it, but can't pinpoint where it is coming from.Maybe behind shield??
Any ideas before I tear it off, are they prone to cracking?? Checked search and not much came up.
Thanks for all replies.

well...if the sound is coming from the engine compartment i can think of 3 places that it could be coming from...possibly a blown head gasket which you would know because there would be an oil leak too along the bottom of the head somewhere....between the header and the head which could be from a ripped gasket or loose bolts and from the bottom of the header going into the head pipe which could also be the cause of a ripped gasket or loose bolts

Thanks Mystrage,
I checked bolts, nothing loose. I think there is a problem with these early manifolds cracking, because I see replacements that are supposed to replace "problematic" manifolds!!.
No matter what, I guess I'll have to remove to find out.

Man!!! pulled it today, it is all split. What a mess.
What did you guys replace it with?? Looking at some on Ebay that claim to be better than original.

I have a stock one off a '91 if interested...I haven't yanked it off the motor yet, but it is out of the Jeep, and appears to have no holes or cracks

thanks for the offer, but I ordered a new one.
would check behind the heat shield if I were you on the one you have. That is where mine is split and cracked.
