That is one spot on my YJ that I have yet to mess with. I need to replace the switch for my lights. My high and low beam are kind of sporadic on a good day. I know that it will include the whole new lever for them and the windshield wipers too. My question is what is involved with disassembling the steering column to do this? What tools do I need other than regular if any?

Before you go gung-ho on tearing the column apart, make sure the switch is working that is located above your brake pedal. The turn signal stalk is connected to a rod that has one end on the signal stalk, and the other end down by your brake pedal. This is what controls your hi/lo lights. There is really nothing that can fail in the signal stalk or rod, it's usually the switch either out of adjustment, or the rod is not connected to the electrical switch.

Cool, Thanks for the info. I have to play with it a couple of times before it will switch from high to low and every now and then it shuts my lights off even if the switch is on. I'll check that out tomorrow
