I got two manik side steps for my '93 for Christmas. Of course, the directions to install sucked but I attempted to do it anyway. I almost figured one side out and installed it but it doesn't look right. The other side required me to fool with the brake lines, which I stopped at. I called a local place to see if they could do it and they said it would cost $85 to install it. It seems to much to me, esp. since it should take only 1/2 an hour. Does this seem out of line?

Its all realative. If you cant do it then you need it done.
Manik does skimp some on directions but they are normally comprehendable.
man they're kind of a bitch to install. i'd prolly ask for $50-80 to do it. it's not difficult, just a hassle. get a couple extra bits in the size they call for, they tend to break, and pb blaster works as a good lube on the metal.

Thats a fair price, especially if you already took them out of the box and tried to install them yourself. How much time have you already spent on them?

I had those on my YJ and I never has to mess with brake lines. I looked over the instructions and then thew them away as I used that and a little common sense to get a general idea on how they go on. It took me about 2 hours to install. The most confusing thing is trying to figure out how the brackets are SUPPOST go, because the instructions dont really tell you the correct way.
The best thing to do is lay it all out and put it together without the steps off the jeep then you'd have a better idea of how it goes on.

I paid pep boys $65.00 to put mine on they were Grizzly and I had to drill through the frame without hitting the brake lines.
