I had a freind of mine tell me he saw a guy at a Jeep Jam use the stock output shaft and reg. yoke to make a homebrew SYE. From what i heard he just machined the output shaft round and then externally threaded the end of it then had a regular yoke bolted to the output shaft like same setup as a rearend yoke.
I have no pics to go by. Any thoughts on this??

what would that gain ya? you would have no u joint straps to get the joint in and out, and also have no slip in the driveshaft. or do i just not get what you are trying to say? also you wouldn't get any added length in the driveshaft.
why not buy the RE hack and tap, or the arizona drivelines hack and tap (i had it, but didn't end up using it, sold it and bought a JB HD SYE from tellico 4x4).

Gotcha............more hassle than it's worth! I still have to gain some d/s length. Who's got the best deal on a "short-shaft" kit? Doesn't have to be h/d.

I like the Conversion/driveshaft kit @ HighAngleDriveline.com but before I swapped out my np231 I had a Currie conversion and driveshaft the previous owner installed, and I must say it worked flawlessly too.
