Will a NP231 transfer case that was on a ax-15 fit on my tf999? THe one i have on mine is a np231 but its on the auto. I was wondering if the ax-15 one will fit?

sorry to break the bad news to you but it WILL NOT fit the tf999. they have a different number of splines on the shaft .

You are incorrect. All YJs and TJs with automatics have 23 spline, just like the AX15. But the automatics' case has a longer output shaft.

No, it will not fit, you would have to change the input gear from yours to the one that was on the AX-15.
Does the 999 have overdrive?

The tf999 is 3 spd. No O/D.

Now wait, I thought this would work except for the shaft being a little longer on the Auto (a good machinist can fix this)

Yes, they can, only he wants to put one out of a standard into one with an auto. If you know a machinist that can stretch the input than he is pretty good.:agree:

ok i was misinformed then . i was told by the guy who sold me my so called "complete rolling chassis" that i could not use my transfer case from my 5 speed for the auto because the splines were different. so i got screwed again.:naw:
