In my experience Jeep windshields of all years are a bit tough...Everyone thinks that since they're flat they're easy to install...not the case. It makes it easier tocrack them. I have seen many people crack them trying to get them to flex more than they're allowed. depends on who you take it to, it's not toooooo expensive...and if you buy used glass it's more brittle..:brows:

Not really true. I installed one on my old CJ and ity wasnt too difficult.

Remove old glass and gasket.
Install new gasket around new glass.
Wrap thin wire (I used one half of speaker wire) around inside of gasket.
Apply ample silicon around gasket.
Set in place on frame.
Slowly pull out wire while making sure back portion of gasket seats within the frame.
wipe off the mess you made.

Not worth the trouble to me, but thats just my opinion.

I watched the glass guy do mine very closely, and it wasnt something I ever wanted to try. He had two guys and a couple tools I have never seen before. A number of chemicals and a mean sealant! They only charged me 35 dollars to put it in, it was WORTH it. They struggled and fought with the old seal for a while too.

I paid 180 for it. Call around and get some quotes. My first quote was 190. Second was 240. I told the second place "no thanks" and they asked if I had been shopping around. They said they would beat the other place and charged me $180... The glass is around $100. I figured for an extra $80 you dont have to worry about getting all the tools and sealants and a professional will make sure it doesnt leak.
