Well...I did it - I traded my TJ for a YJ - I will be putting SOA 1ton axles underneath, V8 power it, 38.5 SX's and plenty of tubing for a cage...plus weld in tub and drivetrain protection...
Here she is as I got it...
93 Sahara
4.0 - Auto
eh stock axles and gears...
sorry it was dark out when I got home after picking it up...

needless to say I do not miss the TJ - just the ride comfort but this YJ will NOT be a DD...nor will it be street legal :D:D:D

Sounds like a good plan. However, I would keep the 4.0L/auto combo. That is an awesome combination. If you knew that you were going to do a V8 swap, why not start with a 4 cyl jeep. It just seems that you could have saved yourself some $$ by buying the 4 cyl jeep, especially knowing that you were getting ready to completely rebuild it (suspension/axles/engine/tranny). BTW, I really liked your TJ, it was one of my favorites. Very clean, while still rugged.

eh - the V8 is a long way down the road...plus the guy traded me and fronted about $7500.00 for my TJ...so I have some play money to shop around...
I am thinking 35 spline HP D60 ARB locked and standard spooled D60 in the rear...5.86 should suffice for the 4.0 un til I blow it up or it grenades on me

That sounds like a pretty darn good deal :) 5.86 is awfully low. You may have trouble stopping because your brakes might not be able to handle so much pulling. I have a friend running 4.88s with 39.5 TSLs and 60s front/rear and 4.0L/auto and that seems just about right. With the auto, you get the torque multiplication anyways.

What t-case are you going with to run those kinds of meats? I would use that pass side drop 44 you have and run an upflipped 300. Save you some money on the flip kit and upgrade your t-case.

true - and that 44 has been sold awhile back...maybe a dana20 witha AA 32spline output on it might suffice also...
